Information for New Members

General Meetings

Regular Guild meetings are held at 9:15 a.m. on the 2nd Friday of each month at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church on Hwy. 72 in Loudon. Time is allowed for socializing with other members and for class, workshop or activity signups. The business meeting starts at 9:30 a.m., followed by a program. June and December meetings are held at the church, followed by a luncheon, location yet to be determined.

A monthly newsletter is sent via email to all members, providing information about the program, classes, and workshops for that month, as well as other pertinent information.

Workshops are held on the 3rd and 4th Thursdays at the Chota Rec Center at 9:00 a.m. They are open to members only. Workshops may be facilitated by one of our members. There is a $10 fee. Signup sheets for these workshops are at the general meeting, at the workshops table.

In addition to the monthly workshops, classes are offered by many of our speakers. Full day classes are held on the days before or after our general meeting. Half day classes follow the general meeting. All classes are held at the Chota Rec Center. Fees are variable. Classes are open to members only.

An opportunity to work on charity quilt projects is available to all guild members on the 1st Monday of each month, 9:00 a.m., at the Chota Rec Center. All materials are supplied by the guild.

Quilts of Valor

Special Events
The guild occasionally sponsors chartered bust trips to regional quilt shows, quilt shops or museums.

Opportunities to exchange fabric and blocks are provided several times during the year. Members sign up for the exchanges at the general meetings.

Quilt Challenges
The AQS quilt challenge is held in even numbered years and a Guild internal quilt challenge is held in odd numbered years. Entries in both are displayed and judged with a viewer’s choice award given. The top 8 AQS challenge quilts are entered into and AQS show.

Quilt Show
A two-day quilt show is held every other year and is our only money-making event. We have a showing of members’ quilts, a silent auction, and a boutique, as well as a number of vendors. This show provides our operating money and program funds for the following two years.

Our dues are $50 annually. Our fiscal year is 01/01 to 12/31. Dues are not prorated. Anyone joining or renewing in Oct/Nov/Dec of the year will be considered paid through December 31st of the following year.

Several "quilting bees" are available to our members who may have a specific interest or who would like to get to know other members in a small group setting.  Some Bees are held in members’ homes or at quilt shops. Most meet at the Chota Recreation Center (except during COVID 19 restrictions). The majority of the bees are open to new members.
