Quilt Room Use
The Chota Center Quilt Room is a wonderful resource. It is an ideal classroom and work space, a great place to lay out your fabric or arrange your blocks on the large flannel board and is home to our great quilt library. Although we share the room with the Art Guild of Tellico Village and others, it is open for Village Quilters’ use on many days each month. You can always check the current calendars on the website.
PLUS:
- Members can "Sit & Sew" after morning workshops, classes, sweatshops and during most scheduled Bees. Please, no timesharing during the Appliqué Bee or the Sisters Art Quilt Bee.
- Check the calendar for the “Sit and Sew” days and times marked in red.
- Notice on the website calendar that the shaded days indicate a scheduled Art Guild day and the room is not available to the Quilters.
- Review the bulletin board items for details on upcoming activities. Most Guild meeting announcements and/or roving Bulletin Board items will be moved and posted on the Chota room Bulletin Board.
- Our library is varied and growing. You may borrow the items using the honor check-out and check-in system. Book and pattern donations are welcome—leave them on the left-hand side of the top shelf to be cataloged or give them directly to our Guild librarian. Please no novels; save those for your local library.
- The Village Quilters have three storage areas: 1) a locked white cabinet for use only for workshops and classes; 2) a locked closet for use only by Community Service committee; and 3) an unlocked white cabinet for all members use.
- Table covers, iron, stencils, rulers and other items for members use are available in the unlocked cabinet. A mat is stored behind the book shelves.
- Our History books are available in the unlocked cabinet for members to enjoy. Please do not remove the books from the room.
- Some Community Service Projects are available in the unlocked cabinet. You may want to pick up a quilt kit, fabric packet or charm squares to construct a quilt top for the Sweatshop group.
- To schedule the room for a group meeting or bee, first check the calendar at www.villagequilters.com ; then contact the current vice president or email villagequilters@hotmail.com to make your reservation.
Please abide by the Room Use Guidelines: Because we share this room with the Art Guild and other groups, it’s particularly important to keep the room clean, neat and ready for the next group.
- NO OPEN BEVERAGES! NO GLASS BOTTLES please; screw-top plastic bottles only.
- For class or workshop days when you may bring your lunch, use the lunchroom if it’s available. Always place food trash in the kitchen trash bin— not in the small quilt trash containers.
- Designate the last 15 minutes of your time slot for cleanup. Dry mop floor for lint, threads, and pins. Use the lint roller on chairs if needed. Empty small trash bins into large trash container.
- Refold table covers and return all items to the cabinet and/or closet.
- Replace tables in original layout if they’ve been moved.
- Always replace the vinyl protective covers on the large ironing tables.
- Turn off all the lights when you leave.
