Information for New Members

Dues: Our dues are $25 annually. Our fiscal year is 01/01 to 12/31. Dues are not prorated. Anyone joining in Oct/Nov/Dec of the year will be considered paid through December 31 st of the following year. Dues for the new year are collected starting with the November meeting. The Member List is disseminated to the general membership before the March general meeting.

General Meetings : These are held at 9:30 a.m. on the 2nd Friday of each month at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church on Hwy. 72 in Loudon. The first 30 minutes are purely social. The business meeting starts at 9:45 a.m. and is followed by the program.

Workshops: Workshops are usually held on the third and/or fourth Thursday of the month at the Chota Rec Center at 9:00 a.m. They are open to members only. Workshops may be facilitated by one of our members or an outside instructor. There is a $5.00 fee. Signup sheets for these workshops are at the general meeting at the workshops table.

Classes : In addition to the monthly workshops, classes are offered by many of our speakers. Full day classes are held on the Thursday prior to the general meeting at the Chota Rec Center. Half day classes following the general meeting are also held at the Chota Rec Center. Fees are variable. Classes are open to members only.

Special Events: These may include such things as chartered bus trips to regional quilt shows or museums, classes, workshops and/or lectures offered by sister guilds in the area.

Sweatshops : An opportunity to work on charity quilt projects is available to everyone on the 1st Monday of each month, 9:00 a.m., at the Chota Rec Center. Sweatshops are open to all Villagers.

Quilt Challenge : Beginning in 2007, this became a biennial event held in odd numbered years. Members are given a “challenge”. The resulting quilts are then evaluated and prizes awarded at our June meeting followed by a luncheon at the Yacht Club. This year (2010) we are having a special challenge due at the March meeting. Winners will be entered in the AQS guild challenge contest for a chance to be shown at the July AQS show in Knoxville.

Sub-Groups : There are sub-groups available to our members who may not be able to attend the general meetings or those preferring a more intimate group. Some “quilting bees” are held in members’ homes and others at the Chota Rec Center. Guild members may participate in any or all of these groups.

These groups focus on common quilting interests among their members.

Quilt Show: A two-day show event held in even numbered years and our only money making event. We have a showing of members’ quilts, a silent auction and sales boutique as well as a number of vendors. We also have an Signature Quilt made by members of the guild, and occasionally we have a special featured quilter.
